WASH HOUR ON GENESIS RADIO
The Asunafo North WASH Team held a radio discussion on 22nd January ,2026 on the status of WASH services since it's inception in 2023, Challenges and the way forward. During the discussion, the upcoming general cleaning exercise scheduled to take place on 31st January,2026 in Goaso the regional capital was addressed. The general public was entreated for massive participation in this exercise towards the government's resetting agenda for proper sanitation. Moreover, Mr. Lambert, the Environmental Health Officer encouraged the general public and food vendors to get themselves involved in the next medical screening exercise for all food vendors, beaverage producers, etc . This medical screening exercise is a collaborative effort between the Assembly and the Ghana Health service towards good public health, disease prevention and it's out Break .The medical screening is scheduled to come off in selected area council on 9th-13th February, 2026, he added. This radio engagement generated significant listener participation during the phone-in segment. A total number of 7 audience called to commend the Assembly and it's partners for the effort to dealing with WASH challenges in the Municipality. The discussion also focused on the importance of WASH services and it's sustainability in the Municipality. It was emphasized that payment contributes to regular water quality testing, timely repairs, and overall improvement in service standards. Hence the pay as you fetch model was encouraged. Listeners also used the opportunity to voice their concerns, which included sanitation challenges, water unavailability in certain communities in the Municipality . These concerns were duly noted, and a field visit would be conducted to verify the validity of the complaints. The objective of the session was to assess whether listeners were actively engaging with the information shared on WASH practices. The strong level of participation indicates a high level of community interest in the activities of the Netcentric Team, particularly during the WASH Hour program on Genesis Radio. The general public were encouraged to keep calling the toll free line to complain about water, sanitation and hygiene challenge in thier communities.
